What have you done to make the world better this summer?

I can count a few things I did as better for the world:
I started a garden with a friend;
I stayed close to home and used less fossil fuel;
I ate local;
I rode my bike;
I taught my son to sew;
I helped a friend get through a rough patch;
I helped my mom & dad;
I walked my dog & appreciated nature.

Share some things you did, or didn't do, that maybe helped our world just a little bit.

What have you read this summer? Here are some books that I found quite gripping, in a Social Justice kind of way:

A Long Way Gone: memoirs of a boy soldier by Ishmael Beah
A Train in Winter: an extraordinary story of women's friendship and survival inWWII by Caroline Moorehead
Keeping Hope Alive by Dr. Hawa Abdi
One Day The Sodiers Came: voices of children in war by Charles London
I Shall Not Hate: a Gaza doctor's journey on the road to peace and human dignity by Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish
Long Walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela
Omar Khadr, Oh Canada edited by Janice Williamson
The Parliament of Man:the past, present and future of the United Nations by Paul Kennedy
Wearing Smaller Shoes: living light on the big blue marble by Chip Haynes
Cutting Your Car Use by Randall Ghent with Anna Semlyen
Off The Map: western travels on roads less taken by Stephen Hume
