First Social Justice class today!  Nice work, advocates for change!
1.  Please READ everything I handed out today.
Handouts include:  Perspective taking skills (empathy development); Social Justice glossary; Universal Declaration of Human Rights; Millennium Development Goals; Ethics in a Nutshell (use this link to ask yourself some ethically challenging questions - http://www.bbc.co.uk/ethics/guide/
If you missed the class, the handouts are in a bin in D102.  If you are from Handsworth or Argyle, make sure you have a pal pick up handouts for you if you are absent, or better yet, don't be absent!

2.  Think about HOW YOU WANT TO BE ASSESSED; come up with ideas, such as journals, student-generated quizzes, M/C tests made up by me/you, self-assessment questionnaires; peer evaluations; presentations; speeches; projects......

3.  Attached is the list of guidelines and remediations for our class.  Please print a copy and have it in your binders to remind you of our modus operendi.

4.  Our virtual classroom, on food systems, happens on October 6th.  I have submitted the attached questions on behalf of our class.  I had to attach a student name to each question; if we are lucky, some of you may get to ask your question live during our virtual experience.  The due date was today, and I really had no time to get you up to speed and then generate the questions with you today.  Please forgive me, but I wanted us to have some questions to ask.  Read them and be familiar with what they are saying, just in case!  Check the links below to find out more about this event:

5.Remember to google BHUTAN, and happiness research, and then be happy yourselves, and thankful for all that we are fortunate enough to have and share.  Every day!  With all we have at our fingertips, we CAN make change for the better!
